Laconia NH Real Estate

Laconia was established as a city in 1893. In 1855, Laconia had been incorporated as a town from lands at Meredith Bridge, Lakeport, Weirs and from a part of Gilmanton. The town's name was likely taken from the name of the original company formed by the Captain John Mason and the Masonian proprietors in order to sell parcels to the original colonists during the colonial era: the Laconia Company.

The city is located on three different lakes,  Lake Winnipesaukee, Lake Opechee and Lake Winnisquam. The City is bounded on the north by the town of Meredith and Lake Winnipesaukee, on the west by Lake Winnisquam, on the east by Gilford and on the south by the towns of Belmont and Gilford. The City encompasses a total of 27.243 square miles, of which 21.126 square miles is land and 6.117 square miles is water.

One of Laconia’s most famous summer attractions is Weirs Beach, located on the waters of Lake Winnipesaukee.  With its historic boardwalk, it provides charm and an abundance of activities for people of all ages.  Board the scenic M/S Mt. Washington for a tour of beautiful Lake Winnipesaukee or take a scenic train ride aboard the Winnipesaukee Scenic Railroad which will give you scenic vistas from Paugus Bay to Meredith Station.
