Best Places for Happy Hour in the Lakes Region

Happy hour is alive and well in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire. The celebratory hour typically starts at 4:00pm with drink and food specials around the region. Happy hour has been banned in 8 American states, but not here. We enjoy a proper toast after a hard day's work. We drink responsibly. We designate a driver while we drink (and we pay for the driver's food). If our designated driver forgets why they were invited and starts throwing back whiskey we don’t get mad, we just call an Uber or a Lyft (but the aforementioned designated driver will be paying for everyone’s food for their untimely faux pas).

Wolfe’s Tavern: Happy Hour is celebrated Tuesday-Saturday from 4:00pm-6:00pm at the Wolfe’s Tavern in Wolfeboro. The tavern has been keeping guests happy for over 130 years. The tavern is part of The Wolfeboro Inn located at 90 N Main Street. Small plates of Beef Sliders, Loaded Tots, Mac & Cheese Bites, and Tuna Martini compliment drinks, which are $2 off during happy hour. 

Cactus Jack’s Grill & Watering Hole: Draft beer is 50% off during happy hour at Cactus Jack’s in Laconia. And they’ll keep your belly happy with other specials too, Sunday through Thursday from 4:00pm-6:00pm and again from 8:00pm to closing. The drink menu is also 50% off and they offer $8 appetizers and $6 mixed drinks.

T-Bones Great American Eatery: Happy Hour is Sunday through Thursday from 4:00pm-6:00pm and again from 8:00pm to closing at T-Bones in Laconia. The drink menu and draft beer are 50% off and they offer $8 appetizers and $6 mixed drinks. Happy Hour wings are available for $10 in the winter for a limited time. 

Patrick’s Pub & Eatery: Located in Gilford, this local favorite first opened their doors in 1987. They open at 4:00pm on weekdays, just in time for happy hour. There are plenty of draft beers, wines by the glass or bottle, hard cider, hard seltzer, and seasonal cocktails which currently includes a Salted Caramel Martini (Stoli Caramel Vodka, Rum Chata, caramel syrup, and salt trim). Open Mic Nights are held on Mondays and start at 6:00pm.

Twin Barns Brewing Co: Handcrafted beer is served alongside Bavarian pretzels in an 1850s antique barn. What more could you possibly want? Well if you want a beer and pretzel on Monday or Tuesday you will have to wait, they are closed. But the doors open at 4:00pm on Wednesday just in time for happy hour. There are 10 beers on tap, Build Your Own Deviled Eggs, small plates, salads, and burgers too. Trivia Nights are scheduled for Wednesday, $12 Wings and Pints on Thursdays, and live music on Fridays and Saturdays during February 2023.
