How Maxfield Real Estate’s WE CARE Program turns local transactions into local giving across the Lakes Region.

Real estate companies love to talk about market share.

Fair enough. Numbers matter.

But there is another measure that matters just as much in the Lakes Region: who gives back to the communities they serve, and whether that giving stays close enough to home to actually mean something.

That is what makes Maxfield Real Estate’s WE CARE Program so special.

The program was established in 1999 as a way of giving back to the communities Maxfield has proudly served for decades. What began as a one-year charitable program became something much bigger: a lasting commitment to local organizations doing real work for real people across the Lakes Region.

And here is the part I especially love.

When a Maxfield agent makes a WE CARE donation from a commission, the client gets to choose the local charity that receives it.

That means the giving is not distant, corporate, or decorative.

It is personal.

A seller can support the food pantry that helped a neighbor.
A buyer can choose a local animal rescue, school program, veterans group, shelter, youth organization, arts nonprofit, or community service they believe in.
A family selling a beloved lake home can direct support toward a cause that reflects the life they built here.

That matters.

Because buying or selling a home is already one of the most meaningful transitions in a person’s life. Through WE CARE, that transition can also send something good back into the place that made the home valuable in the first place.

In 2025, Maxfield agents donated over $93,502 through the WE CARE Program.

Since 1999, WE CARE has raised more than $1,705,460 for over 459 local charities.

That is not a slogan.

That is a structure for giving back.

And in a region built on lakes, small towns, local businesses, volunteers, schools, nonprofits, neighbors, and the quiet machinery of people helping people, that kind of program matters enormously.

The Lakes Region is not just a market.

It is a community.

And when real estate is done well, it should strengthen the community, not simply extract value from it and drive off into the sunset with a branded pen.
